Eat That Frog… or delegate it?

Let’s get you moving from dread to delegation.

As small business owners or entrepreneurs, we often become bogged down in the day to day running of the business that we forget we are the CEO, the leader, the setter of the big picture goals.

We become the worker ant of our business and struggle to find the time to work in our ‘zone of genius.’
That, sadly, is not an efficient or lucrative way to run a business. But, what if you could hand off that task you’ve been avoiding?

What if you gave yourself permission to not ‘do it all?’ What difference could that make in your day, week, month, or year?

Have you considered, even in the first stages of business, delegating your frog?

What if, right from the outset, we planned to outsource? We planned to delegate those tasks we dread? Before we get stuck in the routine thinking that it will just be quicker if I do the work, or I don’t have the money to pay someone else right now. What if we invest in our own success by handing over the things someone else can do better, faster, and more easily?

How would it feel for you to delegate the one necessary, but dreaded, task that you put off day after day?

Cheers to handing over, delegating, or outsourcing that dreaded task.

It could be scary. We don’t like letting anyone else work on our business, the thing we’ve put blood, sweat and tears into. Honestly, it is one of the hardest decisions for any business owner or entrepreneur to make. But it is also one of the most beneficial, freeing up time and energy that you can utilise to create more content, serve your clients, spend time writing, and developing programs.

Not sure what to delegate?

A great way to find a task to delegate is to write down all the things you do in your business either as you do them or as a brain dump. Now take that list and put a star or other mark next to the tasks you dread doing.  This becomes your ‘to delegate’ list.

Of the tasks on the delegation list, which would you be most comfortable handing over to someone else?

  • Is it standardised email responses?
  • Is it calendar management?
  • Would you like to hand over your content to break down into infographics for social media use?
  • Do you want someone else to schedule your blog posts, or add images and format them for you?

The options for delegation are as endless and varied as your business is.
What you choose to delegate will be different to the next person, as you each have your own likes and dislikes, skills and talents.
Don’t let someone else’s choices dictate your actions.
